Baby Blues

My sister-in-law, Jen, posted some of her kids inherited traits which got me thinking about my own kids. Tanner has dark brown eyes just like his daddy. I really thought all our kids would have brown eyes because brown is a dominant gene, but much to my delight, Taggert has bright blue eyes and Whitley is sporting a darker blue with a lighter blue around the pupil. I hope they both keep their blue eyes. Everybody in Trent's family says that Taggert has "Jensen" blue eyes and Whitley has "Reber" blue eyes, but I know from my nursing classes that blue eyes are a recessive gene. What that means is that both parents have to have the gene for a child to get blue eyes. I know we have some blue eyes in my family. Steve has blue eyes. I think my Grandpa Lewis had blue eyes. Alex and Harold both have blue eyes. I guess it really doesn't matter, but I have to say, I've got some pretty blue eyed kids!!
Not to leave Tanner out, the goof ball. He does have beautiful brown eyes, too!

Spring Fling

Trent and I have been on a painting spree this spring! We started with Whitley's room. (I have never seen Trent more diligent in getting a project done than when he was working on Whitley's room-I think he was really anxious to have "our" room back (: ) We did it in Tinker Bell colors. Now we just need to go to Disneyland and get some Tinker Bell paraphanelia to put up and it will be done!

Next, we painted our bedroom! Trent let me pick out the colors and I picked a dark purple for the accent wall. He thought I had gone gothic on him. He actually had a nightmare the first night after we painted it. He thought the wall was falling on him and he jumped out of bed to catch it-it was funny! The other walls are a pale purple. I really love it, but Trent is still traumatized so it will take him awhile to get used to it.(:

We painted Trent's office just this last weekend, but we are still working on the trim so I don't have a picture, but it has been fun to finally get some color in our house. We have lived here for almost five years and we are tired of the "copper blush" that we painted our whole house with, that was actually more blush than copper.

Tanner Rumelli

Tanner has become quite the little reader. I am amazed at how smart he is. He says he hates school, but it's just because he is much ahead of the other students. We have a lot of English language learners at our school so he just gets bored because he already knows what is being taught. They are still reviewing stuff from kindergarten to help those who just aren't getting it(We can thank the "no child left behind" act for that) Anyway, Tanner just turned seven and is looking forward to next year when he will be baptized. It is hard to believe how fast he is growing up.

Taggetty Waggetty

My Taggert has come such a long ways in his almost four years. We got to take his feeding tube out about six weeks ago, and that has been such a blessing. The little hole in his belly is healing up so nicely. He goes to preschool three days a week and gets speech therapy there. He is talking so much these days. It has been good for him to be able to tell us when he is hungry and what he wants to eat. He has actually gotten very opinionated over the last few months. He does love his baby sister and sometimes kisses her a little too hard. She has started to squawk at him when she doesn't like what he is doing, like driving his tractor on her head.

My Whitley Girl

My beautiful little girl is only four months old and she weighs 20 lbs. and 4oz. She is a little chubba. It is so fun having a little girl, but I am having problems finding clothes to fit her vuluptuous form. Most 6-9 month size clothes do fit her, but she's got such a round belly and rolly polly thighs that I really have to be careful what I buy. I just bought this cute denim jumper for church (9 month) and had to squeeze her in it on Sunday. It hurts to be so darn cute!
